Survival Log stops play with a popup for many things that only need a glance: a wish coming true, items received, a skill level-up, a drone unloading. Its short messages (such as not enough stamina) flash by and are easy to miss. Notifications shows all of these as toasts instead, and keeps a full list of them on the phone, so nothing is lost if you looked away.

Highlights

Popups become toasts

wishes fulfilled, items received, skill level-ups and drone deliveries show a toast instead of stopping play. Each can be switched back to the popup on its own. The zombie wave report stays the game's own popup unless you turn on WaveReport.

Click to open

clicking the toast opens the original popup, with the same contents.

The game's short messages too

short messages, system unlocks and new survivor unlocks show as toasts that stay on screen longer. They can also be left to the game while still being kept on the phone.

Basket is back

a toast when the neighbour's or your companion's basket comes back with her return gifts. The game only sends a text message for it.

Repeats merge

the same message several times in a row shows one toast with a count (x2, x3, ...).

Phone app

a Notifications app on the phone lists every notice of the current save, newest first and grouped by game day, with the hour. Filters show only new notices, popups, messages or other mods. The icon shows how many notices are new, and the home screen shows the newest three.

Open in place

clicking a notice in the list opens it in place, with any received items and their amounts, or a wish's gains. Open popup opens its popup again, when it had one.

Read and clear

a notice stays new until you open it. Mark all read clears them all, and Clear list empties the list for this save after asking first.

Kept per save

up to the newest 500 notices, back when you load that save again.

Popups that ask you to choose something, such as events and the item pickup window with Pick All, are never changed.

Notifications adds nothing to your save and does not edit game files. The list is kept in its own files next to the mod's settings. You can remove it at any time.

Works in English and Chinese.

Settings 10

Saved inBepInEx\config\com.dev.survivallog.notifications.cfgChange them on the Mod Manager's Mods screen, or edit the file with the game closed.

Basket

[Basket]

Every message these settings turn on goes into the phone's Notifications app, whether it shows as a toast or as the game draws it. Set one of the first three to false to leave that kind of message to the game alone and out of the list.

BasketBack
On / off
Default On
Shows a "The basket is back" toast when the neighbour's or your companion's basket comes back with her return gifts, and keeps it in the phone list.

GameToasts

[GameToasts]
PopText
On / off
Default On
Show the game's short messages (such as not enough stamina) as toasts. Identical messages in a row merge into one toast with a count. All of them go into the phone's Notifications app.
SystemUnlock
On / off
Default On
Show system unlocks as toasts, and keep them in the phone's Notifications app.
CharacterUnlock
On / off
Default On
Show new survivor unlocks as toasts, and keep them in the phone's Notifications app.
KeepGameToastLook
On / off
Default Off
Let the game draw its own short messages and unlocks as before, and only copy them into the phone's Notifications app. Off: they show as toasts, which stay on screen as long as Exiled's Toolkit's Seconds setting says (7 seconds by default).

Popups

[Popups]

Set one to false to get that popup back as the game shows it. Popups that are switched off here are not kept in the phone list.

WishFulfilled
On / off
Default On
Show a toast instead of the popup when a wish comes true. Click the toast, or its entry in the phone's Notifications app, to open the popup.
ItemsReceived
On / off
Default On
Show a toast instead of the received-items popup (bumper harvests, first-time dishes, rewards). Click it to open the popup. The small pickup pops that fade by themselves stay as they are. The item pickup window with Pick All is never changed.
WaveReport
On / off
Default Off
Show a toast instead of the zombie wave report. Click it to open the report. Off by default: the game's own report shows.
SkillLevelUp
On / off
Default On
Show a toast instead of the skill level-up popup. Click it to open the popup.
DroneDelivery
On / off
Default On
When a drone comes home, show a "Drone delivery arrived" toast instead of the unload popup. Click it to open the popup.

Install

  1. Install BepInEx (if no other mods were installed before, start the game once so BepInEx finishes setup, then quit).
  2. Download the zip from the Files tab on Nexus.
  3. Extract it into the game folder (the folder with SurvivalLog.exe). The zip holds a BepInEx folder, so the DLL lands in the right place. When asked, merge the folders. The result should be:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Survival Log\BepInEx\plugins\Notifications.dll

Where it goes

Survival Log\
├─ SurvivalLog.exe
└─ BepInEx\
   ├─ plugins\
   │ └─ Notifications.dll
   └─ config\
└─ com.dev.survivallog.notifications.cfg (made on first start)

Uninstall

Delete Notifications.dll from the BepInEx\plugins folder.

Settings

To choose which popups and messages become toasts, edit BepInEx\config\com.dev.survivallog.notifications.cfg while the game is closed, or do it in game on the Mod Manager's Mods screen, where changes take effect at once (see CONFIG.md; the cfg file explains each setting in English and Chinese). Where the toasts appear and how long they stay are Exiled's Toolkit settings.

Help

Known issues

  • After a restart, a notice in the list can open its popup again only if the popup can be rebuilt from what was saved.
  • When some of a drone's cargo does not fit, it stays in the drone as before, and the toast has no popup to open.
  • The list starts empty for saves played before the mod was installed.
